Snaptube 5 - Is it Any Better Than Its predecessors?

The new Snaptube version 3.3 is the latest in technology video surveillance equipment. It also provides users with a much improved user experience. I have found a few bugs in this new Snaptube video recording software that I believe are worth pointing out.

Notifications - I believe the most problematic part about the old version of Snaptube was the notification pop up screens that appeared every time you captured a video. They constantly appeared and it was extremely annoying especially when you were in a meeting or doing something important. The new version removes these notifications from appearing automatically.

Snaptube Video Capture - The first bug that I discovered was the inability to watch videos directly on the device. If you wanted to watch a video directly on your computer, you had to alt tab into your capture device to watch it. That's because Snaptube didn't have direct support for this yet. But I think they're working on it... just not to completion yet. So far they have implemented support for Windows Media Player and Windows Movie Maker. Other apps I've tested don't work very well yet if at all.

Live View - The new Snaptube also doesn't have a live view feature. I guess this depends on your camera. If you're familiar with live video capture, then you won't have any problem. If not, then it's kind of a bummer. Other apps like Camtasia have this same problem.

Video Playback - The quality of the video is not the greatest. It's not as clear as the original videos and you can sometimes pick up shaky images. It also has limited options for editing. My suggestion would be to go with other viewing alternatives like Vimeo, MetaCafe or NetFlix. It's free so what the heck. Also, it seems they don't have a Flickr album feature like their competitor's.

Overall, it's hard to say if the new snaptube version 5 is better than the previous one. I can't give an objective answer since all improvements and enhancements are still new. I am however, excited to see what the team has planned for future updates. For now though, I'd suggest looking towards Camtasia and Zumocast for your digital photo editing needs.

Live Video - This was one thing that was missing from the old version. Now they've added support for live streaming. If this isn't something you're interested in then you may want to stick with Zumocast or Moby.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with Snaptube 5. Compared to my other Carbon Copy Pro software I use, I'm having a lot more success with Snaptube. I love the video features and the layout are very similar to Carbon Copy Pro. I do wish that the snaptube download was a little bit bigger, but that's just a personal gripe. Snaptube does a great job as a transcription tool and as a video editor so don't let the lack of support for live streaming get you down.
